bad credit score due to $305 charge-off sold to coll agency

I made a stupid mistake. I refused to pay my gas credit card because my $95 gasoline bill grew to $305 ($210 in late fees). The last payment was on 1/2005. The gas credit card was charged off in 6/2005 and sold to a collection agency in 5/2007. The collection agency raised the amount due to $408 on 5/2008. Can accounts charge off duringa DMP? If so, I'm guessing the account is normally sold to an outside agency, so then I'm guessing my DMP would need to send the payments to the agency rather than the OC? Also, if a creditor were to charge off my account during my DMP, but I'm making payments just not as much as they are wanting do you think they would still sue me?

i borrowed 200.00 and have payed back 415.00 and still have a balance owed of 130.00. that means they have collected 335.00 in interest on 70.00 leaving a balance of 130.00. at that rate i will be in the thousands by the time this loan is payed off if it ever is.

Being sued by a debt collection agency

This debt collection agency filed a lawsuit against me about a month and a half ago. I filed an answer and also sent them a request for debt validation. I have not heard anything from them since then. What is the next step? Do I leave things alone? Or do I mail them again asking if hey received it? The letter was certified so I have the receipt to prove that I sent it out.
